Bedford North Lawrence looks to be well its way to winning its third consecutive Indiana state championship. In those past three seasons, Bedford has dominated, building up a 78-1 record.
On February 10, the Stars won their first game of this year’s playoffs after facing off against New Albany.
Steamrolling through the first quarter, Bedford led 15-4 eight minutes in. Twelve of the 15 came from the unstoppable duo of Dominique McBryde and Jenna Allen. The Stars continued to drain shot after shot in the second, extending its lead to 29-10 by the half.
New Albany fought back in the second half, taking the third 12-7. A strong fourth quarter from Bedford ended any hopes of the Bulldogs working their way back into the game, and the Stars won 50-29.
Allen led the team in scoring with 23 points and McBryde reeled in 10 rebounds.
Moving on in the playoffs, Bedford faces Seymour in the semifinals on February 13.
